It seems like the game won't run on MacOS 10.13 - I guess I'll have to change the requirements, sorry.

I had people run it on 10.14, but I'd say at least 10.15 is recommended.

Oh well, choices have to be made ;-)

Cheers!

I really enjoyed the humor and I was surprised that it has voice acting.  The story looks very promising. Can't wait for the full game.

Looks terrific ! any mac version on the way ?

The full version will include a Mac build, for sure. At the time of the game jam I didn't have time to provide a Mac build for the demo, but now that I think of it, could do it one of these days :)

Nice ! Let me know :-)

I uploaded a Mac build, let me know if there are any issues with it!

Great ! I will try it as soon as possible. I'll let you know :-)

Amazing game!  My only criticism is the plant wasn't named Chuck

(+2)

But he was called Berry, like the famous musician... Chuck Berry 😁

I put a plant named Chuck in Duty First if you're looking for some explicit references to old games 😀

I recant my criticism :p

Thank you, GuGames, for joining us when we played your game during our stream! 😊
I wrote little recaps of the games for our blog and want to add this one here:

We first played a game by Gugames when we tried the submissions to Adventure Jam earlier this year and we were so happy to see them again as a creator for AdvXJam! This time we took the role of Jack Flabbington who is desperately trying to contact his uncle’s spirit in the afterworld.

Again, we were astonished by the level of quality that Gugames delivered. The Will of Arthur Flabbington has great pixel art, awesome humor (it’s not hard to notice that we had fun with this when watching our VOD), and puzzles that made us think without ever being frustrating.

It's always a pleasure to see you play the jam games :D

Love adventure games like this, the humor and puzzles were great!!Waiting for the full release!!

Excellent game, as always. Fluid animation, great humour, solid and original puzzles, and now even very good voice acting.

Thank you for showing me the importance of using the right ingredients for summoning. I look forward to the full game to see how many minutes will be billed to Madame Julia. BTW this is a great reason to speedrun the game. :)

wow - really great .-) - your games are getting better and better - and even the first one I've played was quite good. Congratulations

Thanks a lot, I hope to keep improving... or all the sleep I lost in these weeks was for nothing! :P

eh eh eh - I know about those lost sleep hours - and I'm sure they're not for nothing

I simply love it :)

That was short and funny (and of course, I also checked whether I could do the ritual in reverse). Very nicely drawn, and animated, especially for a jam game. It's really cool that you had voice acting too! Looking forward to seeing this expand into a full length game.

Minor niggle is that the end credits are off-centre at my screen resolution (1680x1050) which cuts them off a little bit on the right.

(1 edit)

Thanks Steven! A couple of days in I noticed I couldn't possibly produce my original idea so I opted to cut at the first bottleneck and make it a demo, and since the scope was way smaller, I could try to polish it as much as possible to see what I could do if I dedicate enough time to production.

I'm very satisfied and now also motivated to try something bigger than a jam game
